This is one of the beats available on the Namsen river. One of the good taking spots on this beat is just around the corner from the point of the island visible in the centre of the picture above, where access to a fantastic run, offering relatively easy wading is available. To reach this section it is necessary to take a boat across the Namsen, coupled
with a short walk around the point, but this can be very worthwhile and productive. Recommended rods are 15ft/16ft complimented with 10/11 lines, again floating, intermediates or sink tips will generally suffice, but in my opinion it is always worth having a full sink with you just in case, even though you probably will not need it. Although they do have their own patterns on the Namsen, conventional flies and tubes will work just as well. Also, if you wish to use a single handed rod on the Namsen, as some do, I would suggest
you should use something around 10ft with no less than a size 8 line as this will not only give you the option of turning over larger flies if you wish to, but it will also give you a fighting chance, if you hook one of those fish of a lifetime that the Namsen River has become famous for producing over the years. In addition to the Namsen you also have the option of fishing it's tributaries, some of which can be formidable rivers in their own right, rivers such as the Bjora, which has also produced some very big fish and is a large as some of our own well known rivers. The Namsen is only about 45 mins from the SShoot camp at Brumoen, and trips to this mighty river are arranged as part of your holiday package. Additional day trips can also be arranged within your week, but will incur an extra charge, as day tickets and transport will need to be arranged.
